Along the way that takes to Agion Oros, at the foot of Holomon mountain there the charming village of Arnea. It is an historical place, that keeps interesting buildings made in the macedonian architecture style. In the hearth of Arnea there is Alexandrou Inn, a traditional twoo floor hotel built in 1812.
A new building has been added this year. It was built in 1924 and recently restored as a traditional house.
You will appreciate the excellent service all over the year.
It is a nice place to visit for its beautiful landscape, the not far beaches of Pirgadikia and Ouranoupolis and the opportunity to follow Aristotele's steps in the near Stagira.

Set at the foot of Mt Holomon, Arnea is a town in northern Halkidiki numbering nearly 2,500 residents. It is 70km off Thessaloniki and some 38km off Polygyros.
Halkidiki is a peninsula, southeast of the city of Thessaloniki (Greece's second largest city), with its characteristic three peninsulas (Kassandra, Sithonia, Athos), it resembles a trident piercing the Aegean.

From Arnea, visitors could visit the neighbouring Mt Athos, or explore the beauties of Mt Holomon through a ring of mountainous paths and recreation centres. Should you work your way through the area, make sure you do not miss paying a visit to Arnea’s Folk and History Museum, as well as Giatradiko mansion.
Visitors also have the chance to purchase hand-woven textiles and to watch the traditional art of weaving.
The Municipality of Arnea is made up of a total of five villages. Don’t forget to make a trek to the wider area and lead your steps towards its small villages; Varvara that boasts a most wonderful forest and a waterfall, Neohori, which is built at a 550m altitude, Paleohori with its renowned art shop, where the village’s women practice the traditional art of weaving and the picturesque Stano. |
